Project Introduction

This series is dedicated to documenting the life of my 1988 RX7 convertible as far back as my fuzzy memory can remember til now and the future.  I got her back in 2010 in all her straight piped 1.3L fury!  Back then I was a novice at tinkering with cars, still am, but I really loved the thing.  First mods I did was replace the wiper motor (+10hp) and fix the dead starter.  I had huge power goals in mind, so huge that I ended up leaving the car in South Florida from 2011-2020.

At that point I was a working professional making the medium bucks and decided it was time to do my high school sweet heart justice.  The car barely ran, overheated within seconds, and absolutely hated when I hit that clutch.  It was a really sweet reunion.  First order of action: yank the engine.

Like most things in my life, I blindly dived in this build (figuratively, I would never dive into a body of water blind or sighted tbh) and hoped I could DIY it.  If anyone sees me doing anything stupid or crazy please poke me and let me know.  Hopefully this documentation will help someone else wanting to do the same sacrilegious engine swap in a RX7.

Shout out to Jimmy Oakes and his team for motivating me to get off my butt and start the build.
